A Sunday Sharing

This week At Sally’s

To begin the Rituals Season, we’ll be looking back with Aafke Mertens. On Día de Muertos we’ll journey through personal history, grief, and heritage. The Amsterdam-based Mertens will center her evening At Sally’s around her graphic novel. Undertaken after the death of her mother, Mi Mictlán follows the artist’s quest through the clash of two realities: the immediate family narrative she grew up within as a child, and the external views of extended relatives. The resulting drawings and book are an interpretation of how these complex stories live within her now.

English-led programming always includes audience questions, & light bites to help everyone digest it together.

At Sally’s is free & open to all.
